The excruciating pain in the face of both parents is itself painful to endure. It was the wife’s thumb comforting the husband while he talks. Her arm is behind his and her left hand is holding his right hand.
Is there any significance in her hand being in a “dominant” position; her thumb over his? Is she responding to an awareness that he blames himself? Is she embracing him emotionally; communicating to him “I still love you.” A tragedy like this could destroy a marriage, one blaming the other.
